Success is not always a monetary award in the music business. History has proven that R&B singers of the past have continued to pursue their dreams in spite of the economic benefits. A stream of R&B groups have been on the top of the charts and still have nothing to show for it. The Temptations, signed to Motown Records, was one of the hottest groups of their time. In spite of it all they had hits after hits, but to this day they still have to tour to get paid. New Edition, signed to MCA Records, was one of the hottest young groups of the last two decades. New Edition inspired the majority of all groups that have come and gone in the last 25 years. One group in particular is Boyz II Men. Boyz II Men has had major success and the economics to go with it, because of New Edition’s Michael Bivins. Although Mike experiences a stream of greedy labels, mentors, and agents, he used his knowledge and expertise to guide Boyz II Men to major success. So once again I say that it’s truly the love for music that keeps the Temptations, New Edition, active and together and touring even to this day. (Jet, Nov 15, 2004 by Margena A. Christian)
